Dr. Ryan Goble is the Academic Program Manager for WISLI at the Language Program Office (LPO), where he manages communications and outreach across the institutes, leads various academic program development initiatives, provides comprehensive student advising, and coordinates professional development programming for students and instructors. Previously, he served as program coordinator for SASLI, the South Asia Summer Language Institute.
Before joining the LPO, Dr. Goble served as Project Coordinator for the Wisconsin Language Roadmap Initiative at the UW–Madison Language Institute, collaborating with diverse stakeholders and providing logistical support to expand equitable access to world language education. He also led the communications strategy at the Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia (CREECA), a Title VI National Resource Center, and coordinated the Pushkin Summer Institute-Abroad for Russian as part of the virtual National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y).
An applied linguist by training, Dr. Goble earned his PhD in Second Language Acquisition at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He brings extensive experience teaching English as an additional language in the U.S. and abroad in Peru. His research examines intersections of multilingualism and professional development and has been published in the Modern Language Journal and the Journal of Language, Identity, and Education.
