Call for Applications: BTAA Summer Institute in Central Asian Studies & Humanities Research Methods

We invite applications for the inaugural BTAA (Big Ten Academic Alliance) Summer Institute in Central Asian Studies & Humanities Research Methods (Indiana University, July 2026), a selective NEH-funded doctoral training program.

The institute is designed to help PhD students sharpen research methods, accelerate dissertation development, and build cross-institutional scholarly networks. Through faculty-led case studies and collaborative workshops, participants will engage directly with the methodological and source-related challenges of Central Asian research while advancing their own projects.

The program includes virtual sessions before and after a five-day in-person institute in Bloomington and provides full tuition coverage, lodging, and a $1,000 stipend.

We encourage applications from doctoral students working on Central Asia or related fields in the humanities.

Deadline: March 20, 2026
