The Short Story: From Temple to Teaching – A Wonderful Story

A Wisconsin biography: from temple to teaching

Jampa Khedup grew up in southern India and lived for 20 years as a Tibetan monk, a calling that brought him all the way to Oregon, Wisconsin, to work and live at Deer Park Buddhist Center, a community founded by UW professor and monk Geshe Lhundub Sopa. Khedup himself began teaching courses in UW’s Asian Languages and Cultures department in 2005, and today, while no longer a monk, Khedup still teaches Tibetan language, culture and Buddhism. Now, PBS Wisconsin will feature Khedup in its latest installment of Wisconsin Biographies on the life of Geshe Lhundub Sopa, premiering Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 4 p.m.
